Town’s take on gnocchi features large, extra pillowy, potatoey dumplings. Keep in mind that Town regularly changes its menu based on what is in season. We had this recently with bitter greens, Harukei turnips and roasted mushrooms (that we requested in lieu of pancetta). The bitter greens were a little too, well, bitter for our liking, but their gnocchi is on point, and will likely go well with any seasonal toppings.

Curry House fulfills the poor man’s trifecta of being cheap, filling and fast — but it’s certainly not junk food. In fact, if you want to class it up (and indulge in some fried deliciousness), we suggest going the corn cream croquette route. This Japanese delicacy is savory and rich, so it’s a good thing they’re not too big — a perfectly sized indulgence. Adding cheese puts things a little over the top, yes, but hey, that’s why you get a smaller rice portion (and its accompanying 50-cent discount).
