The Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts is seeking artists for two public works of art — one at McCully-Moiliili Fire Station and the other at Mililani Mauka District Park — as a part of its Art in City Buildings program.

For the McCully-Moiliili Fire Station, which is located at 2425 Date St., MOCA aims to depict an historic event that occurred in the area, preferably related to the 1895 Battle of Moiliili . The completed piece will be on an exterior wall on the first-floor level.

For Mililani Mauka District Park, MOCA seeks a piece that reflects the Mililani area and the park facility. It will be displayed outside of the park’s restroom and may utilize any or all of the surface areas on the front of the building.

MOCA’s Art in City Buildings program was designed to provide exposure to culture and the arts, as well as foster the development of local artistic talent.

To apply, artists need to submit a letter of interest, a resume, references and a project proposal, among other materials. The deadline to apply for the fire station project is Jan. 7; for Mililani, the deadline is Jan. 8. Finalists will be notified in March, and a winner will be chosen by May.
