HANA HOU PICTURE SHOW: ‘LABYRINTH’

A departure from The Muppets, for sure, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth screens at this month’s Hana Hou Picture Show. The best part: (If you haven’t yet seen it) David Bowie, in all his amazing weirdness and ‘80s-appropriate coif, portrays Jareth, a Goblin King in a mystical world who has kidnapped a young Jennifer Connelly’s baby brother. Plus, he provided the film’s music, too. Labyrinth screens at 7 and 10 p.m., and tickets cost $10. consolidatedtheatres.com

AT KUMU KAHUA THEATRE
Set during Hawaii’s fight for marriage equality, Yilong Liu’s play centers around a man who self-destructs because of an inability to let go of a former lover. It hits the stage Aug. 27 and runs through Oct. 4. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets cost $5-$20.

MCCOY PAVILION AT ALA MOANA PARK
Celebrate all things Greek at the 34th annual festival, set to take place Saturday and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. at McCoy Pavilion. Be on the lookout for dancing, market/bazaar shopping, and, most importantly, food and drinks — like spanakopita, gyros and imported Greek beer. Admission costs $3, or wear a toga and pay only $1 (children under 11 and active military get in free).
