More than a pool party

Summer makes me think of one thing: pool parties! I dream of those long summer nights lounging by the pool as a warm breeze plays with my hair. My favourite parties are those where they have cute fairy lights and neon signs like the ones at www.neonfilter.com to pose in front of. They always make the best photos, and it just screams summer! When the cold weather draws in and I start to think about summer again, my thoughts always go back to those pool days and how relaxing and fun it is to be there. I think about it so much that I start to dream about having my own pool in my backyard. I know a few people who have backyard pools, and one of them even called in a Pool Remodeling service to make theirs bigger! (I’m not too jealous…okay yes I am). I may not get one, but it’s nice to daydream until summer rolls back around again!
When I attended The Modern Honolulu’s Sunday pool party, I had an absolute blast. Their pool setup was breathtaking, adorned with the perfect decorations, and they served delicious cocktails for poolside enjoyment. What truly stood out to me was their commitment to guest safety. They ensured that their deck was in excellent condition, likely through collaboration with a Concrete contractor in Ocala, FL, to prevent any potential tripping accidents. They also had a designated lifeguard on duty, which added an extra layer of security, making the entire experience even more enjoyable and worry-free. But the morning after a full day of imbibing also was a stark, disappointing reminder that I’m no longer in college. I was left energy and sleep deprived, so I knew I had to find another way to enjoy this hotspot for the times when I’m not up for an all-day rager.
So my husband and I grabbed some drinks there before dinner on Saturday night. If Sundays at The Modern’s Sunrise Pool bar are for day drinking, then Saturdays are for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful location.
This outdoor bar offers chaise lounges – as well as small tables and intimate seating overlooking the boat harbor – a happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m., and a menu of specialty cocktails.

As the sun began to set, Mother Nature gave us a beautiful show over the city, painting the sky with yellow, orange and red. It created the perfect backdrop as we enjoyed our drinks – The Modern’s popular Frozen Coconut Mojito, a blend of Cruzan Coconut Rum, lime, fresh mint and coconut.
Admittedly, I was skeptical. Mojitos are a favorite summer drink of mine – the lime and mint combo is refreshing – but the addition of coconut seemed out of place to me. Why ruin a good thing?
To my surprise, the drink was as refreshing as it was strong. Two more of those and I would have been skipping dinner altogether. I don’t mind a heavy-handed bartender, and for the price ($13), I was happy for the added punch of rum.
As the wind picked up, we moved our personal happy hour to The Study, The Modern’s indoor lounge with a library theme. You can read more about it here (metrohnl.com/time-for-study-hall), but next time I’m packing a sweater and cozying up on one of the wicker sofas underneath the protection of gorgeous bougainvillea to enjoy nighttime at the pool, or heading upstairs to the Sunset Pool. It’s been so nice to relax by the pool and know that it doesn’t just meet the pool barrier safety compliance rules (which is always a bonus), but it meets everything aesthetically you want as a customer.
What I love about the Sunrise Pool is the wide range of experiences it offers – with no shortage of fun no matter which path you choose. Whether you have reserved a daybed for a full day of Sunday fun, or are unwinding with a drink and the sunset, it’s the place to be (and be seen) this summer.
