Maunalua Bay Lightning

By Colin F. Cross

After a long evening at work watching this lightning storm out the window, I finally got out and had just one chance to get this shot. The second I saw a spark, I hit the shutter release and walked around behind the canoes, popping off a handheld flash from behind to give the illusion of being lit by the lightning. 30-second exposure.

Lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice, and it lights up the night. —Fleetwood Mac
