Letter From The Editor

Metro-082615-editorIf you’ve been to a show in Honolulu — whether it be for a nationally known band or a local group — chances are, you’ve seen Brandon Apeles.

A music manager for a number of well-known local artists, Apeles is seemingly everywhere. Anuhea. Kings of Spade. Aidan James. Fiji. That’s an extremely incomplete list of the musicians he has worked with. I was first introduced to Apeles when Erika Elona — another one of his clients — opened for Iron & Wine at The Republik last year.

Last week, I met up with Apeles to chat about his approach to work, what motivates him and why he’ll never give up on his dreams. Read the full story here.

In more local music, Roger Bong’s Beyond The Groove column has a guest-written article by rockers P∆G∑, which releases two albums this week. They’ve taken the concept of a concept album and really ran with it. You can hear them play their resulting work at Downbeat Lounge this Saturday, and learn more about the band here.

If you’ve been out lately, you may have noticed Anton Glamb has been missing from his usual haunts. Find out where he’s been in his column.
