Metro-Christina-MugThere’s not much to say about this issue other than that WE ARE STARVING. This issue is all about food.

As always, on Page 14, Jaimie Kim gives us the lowdown on the latest in the culinary world. This time, she takes us to Jugo Life Juicery, where HICravings recently started a weekly pop-up. I’ve been following HICravings since it was called Jess Da Best and was still operating out of founder Jessica Kamanao’s home. Their acai bowls are absolutely delicious, but I rarely go to Kapolei, so it’s exciting they finally have a downtown space.

In our business story this week (Page 8), we chat with nutritionist Deanna Moncrief about her sister food delivery services, Salad Envy and the brand-new The Happy Bento. Moncrief runs a corporate wellness business and is passionate about helping busy people have quick, easy access to healthy food.

We also preview the 2015 Empty Bowl Hawaii, a fund-raiser for Meals on Wheels run by Hawaii Potters’ Guild. Not only is it a great cause, but it’s also stocked with an impressive list of restaurants that are preparing soups just for the event. Read about it on Page 10.

If you have any leftovers while you’re eating all of this food, learn how you can put it to good use with the help of worms on Page 12.

After putting this issue together, we’re hungry. But we can’t leave the office on production day, so please send us some food. Just kidding, don’t really do that. We don’t know you, so we wouldn’t really eat it — stranger danger and all that. We’d just end up feeding it to the worms.
