According to bartender Marnie Aduca, this cocktail gives a shoutout to 1989 because that’s the year that the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, reopened after renovations. It was inspired by another cocktail, Moana Sands, which used to be on the menu back in ’89.

What do you personally like about this drink?

It’s the sweetness, the crushed ice, and it’s real soft and refreshing. It’s a great drink.

What’s your favorite cocktail?

I like Long Islands. I also make a drink called the Obama Mama — I named it after the president, and I have the copyrights! It’s a two-base rum, white rum and malibu, POG, and a surprise in the straw!
