It’s every taco lover’s ideal situation: The Modern Honolulu doesn’t charge extra for guac. Its soft tacos (served at the hotel’s Sunrise + Sunset Pool) come complete with salsa, guacamole, sour cream and your choice of fish, steak or pork carnitas (pictured). And it doesn’t skimp on any of those. The meal also is served with light, airy chips and fresh salsa — not that watery kind. Pair the tacos and chips with a Corona, and you’re set. For those with gluten allergies, you can order your soft tacos as a gluten-free meal. (The soft tacos are available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.)

WARM PINEAPPLE CRISP
STAGE RESTAURANT
1250 Kapiolani Blvd.Honolulu
Phone number (808) 237-5429

At Stage Restaurant, it’s just as much about presentation as it is about flavor. Its Warm Pineapple Crisp is no exception. The dessert is served with warmed pineapple slices sitting atop a graham cracker/oatmeal crumble crust. Pair that with chai tea spiced ice cream and you have the perfect combination of warm and cold with each bite. Fresh berries and fleur de sel caramel add additional touch of sweetness. We know it’s hard, but make sure to ration your ice cream. You don’t want to be one of those people who has to eat the last few bites sans that cold, sweet goodness. While it might be tempting to eat the entire thing yourself, it’s large enough to share with your dinner companion.
