The Gallery At Ward Centre

Cooperative art venue The Gallery at Ward Centre recently an nounced its featured artists for November: Babs Miyano-Young, Gordon K. Uyehara, George Woollard and Susie Y. Anderson.

Miyano-Young, Uyehara and Wool-lard will be showcasing Fashion with Function, Metal Clay Art, and Sculptures and Vessels, respectively, under the theme The Nature of Things.

Anderson, meanwhile, takes viewers through a tour of France, from city lights to lavender fields, with her collection of oil paintings that were inspired by Paris and the countryside.

These exhibits will be on display from Nov. 1 to Nov. 29. An artists’ reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 9.

The Gallery at Ward Centre is located at 1200 Ala Moana Blvd.

ART GALLERY AT UH MANOA

Works from artists in Hawaii and the Pacific are on display in Binding and Looping: Transfer of Presence in Contemporary Art, which runs through Dec. 5.

Each piece is an interpretation of indigenous fiber and binding methods melded with other forms of artistic expression to create pieces in sculpture, printmaking, photography, painting and video.

The exhibit, located in the Art Building, was curated by Dr. Deborah Waite, professor of Pacific art history.

Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
