Letter From The Editor

The first time I heard The Rightovers, I was blown away. I am a huge fan of 90s music, and here was this current local artist sounding like if Pavement met Gin Blossoms and had little jangly pop 90s music progeny.

I’d first heard about The Rightovers when our music columnist Roger Bong featured the band in his column last March. And as I found out then, the band is comprised mostly of singer-songwriter Chris Holmes. For a while after Roger’s column ran, it seemed that The Rightovers were everywhere, releasing an album, playing shows.

But then we didn’t hear anything for a while. So we got curious and tracked Holmes down for an update. In the meantime, we also learned about the creative process behind his first album and what he’ll be working on in the coming year.

Obviously, Roger has provided us all with some wonderful musical finds this year. And in his column this week, he gives us a look at his top five favorite re-issued albums of 2015. See what makes his list.

And for more new discoveries, see food writer Jaimie Kim’s latest. This week, she stops in at Artizen by MW Restaurant, the new lunch spot created by the chefs behind MW. Read what she has to say about it.
