Letter From The Editor

Metro-093015-editorSince it launched in 2010, Eat The Street has become wildly popular. So popular, in fact, that founders Brandon and Poni Askew launched Honolulu Night Market soon after. That, too, drew in the crowds. But the demand, Poni explained to me last week, was still there. So the next logical step was to create a permanent version of these pop-up markets.

Their Makers & Tasters Kewalo launched late last month, and currently is open at 1011 Ala Moana Blvd., on the waterfront where Fisherman’s Wharf used to stand. At any time of the day, you can find a different set of food vendors there that represent a fairly exhaustive list of various types of foods.

With a new, permanent location, Brandon and Poni certainly have a lot on their plate. Find out why it’s all worth it to them here.

And if you’re still looking for some good eats, check out Jaimie Kim’s review of La Cucina here. (Spoiler alert: She praises their pasta.)

And after all of that eating, you’re going to need to work it off. Tantriq Entertainment has come up with an exciting way to do that with its upcoming Zombie Dash Hawaii. Nothing gets you running like evading zombies, probably. See the details here.
