Letter From The Editor

Metro-042915-editorHonolulu Design Center probably is one of the prettiest buildings in town — both inside and outside. But let’s focus on inside, where INspiration is filled with chic, elegant furniture. Plus, there’s Amuse Wine Bar and Stage Restaurant — which serve up delicious food, and wine, too, probably, but that’s not really my thing.

But until I spoke with Joett Colgan of Honolulu Design Center last week, I had no idea that the Kapiolani Boulevard building also was home to community events. This week, it brings together a group of young artists for Canvas of a Different Nature. The two-day event showcases work by four artists, who also will host a series of workshops to share their talents. Read more in our feature story on Page 10.

On another note, Metro says goodbye to writer/photographer/videographer Rachel Breit this week. For the last few months, she’s been scouting the most creative drinks at bars throughout town to bring you a cocktail of the week in our Speakeasy feature. We’re bummed to see her go but wish her luck in her next venture. Check out her last Speakeasy on Page 16.

If you’re as sad as I am about Rachel’s departure, go drown your sorrows at Bevy, because the drink she features this week sounds delicious — and I’m sure it is, as it was created by my friend and favorite Bevy bartender Lindsey Paresa.
