GEEV-UM-S’MORES CREPE

Normally, we prefer fruit-based crepes — who can resist the call of strawberries and cream? — but just this once we went the Nutella route, and there were exactly zero regrets. A Nutella-stuffed crepe is topped with graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate syrup and whipped cream for a just-like-a-campfire effect. OK, yes, we added ice cream, too. How can you eat a crepe without ice cream? It’s totally worth the extra charge, trust us. We do, however, recommend you share this dessert, or else you’ll have to roll yourself out.

SPICY AHI CHIPS
KONA KAI SUSHI
3579 Waialae Ave., Kaimuki

We have a hard time thinking of any food item not improved by the presence of spicy ahi — dessert, perhaps — but fish and chips are always a winner. Kona Kai Sushi tops crisp pieces of deep-fried nori with a healthy dollop of ahi, tobiko, green onions and a spicy mayo sauce to create the perfect mouthful. Of course, a classy place like this also demands you order a picture-perfect sashimi set (and you very well should, because Kona Kai offers a surprisingly generous selection in their $35 platter), but who can resist the siren song of spicy ahi?
