Summer is upon us, which means people will be hitting the beach more, getting a nice, golden tan. But while that may look great, we all know it’s not the best for our skin. Plus, for many working professionals, it’s hard to find pockets of time to soak up the sun. Enter Coconut Girl Spray Tanning, a mobile company that utilizes three organic tanning agents in the form of self-tanning product Fake Bake.

“What sets it apart is that there are no dyes, there are no preservatives,” says Coconut Girl Spray Tanning owner Lia Higashi. “It’s the closest to a natural tan that you’ll get.”

That’s thanks to dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a substance that produces a darker pigmentation on the surface of the skin.

“Other than the DHA, it’s all-natural ingredients,” says Higashi, adding that this method of tanning avoids the risk of burning.

“You don’t want to have too much sun exposure, but you still want that great look,” she says.

Self-tanning products often are associated with that fake-looking orange tinge — but Coconut Girl Spray Tanning products match skin tone and act as a real tan.

“It will fade just like a regular tan,” explains Higashi. The solution changes the color of the top layer of skin, and as the skin sheds, the tan also will fade. (Higashi recommends weekly applications to maintain the tan.)

Time is another factor that plays into looking your summertime best. Hours at the beach can be a huge stress-relief, but dedicating that much time to laying around isn’t always possible. Higashi’s mobile tanning booth can come to you.

For those who don’t want to bare it all inside the mobile booth, Coconut Girl Spray Tanning offers at-home products. As a general rule of thumb, gentle bathing (sans exfoliation) is recommended.

Since launching last summer, Coconut Girl Spray Tanning has helped clients such as Miss Hawaii contestant (Miss Kaneohe) Steisha Sheather and Miss Hawaii America 2015 runner-up Malia Beter, as well as brides, dancers, graduates and more.

But no matter the occasion, Coconut Girl Spray Tanning has the sole mission to help people look their best while taking care of their skin.

Individual sessions are $50 and a group rate for five or more people runs for $35 per person. For more information and to check out the online store, visit coconutgirlspraytanning.com.
