For those in need of useful design tips for everyday life – and let’s face it, you can never have too many – INspiration Interiors in the Honolulu Design Center offers complimentary workshops Saturday (Oct. 18) from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The design and lifestyle workshops are part of an ongoing series that recently was made available again to the public.

“We thought we’d revive it because there’s so much information out there right now on all kinds of things,” says Joett Colgan, marketing and public relations consultant for Honolulu Design Center.

Each class will take place in a different corner of INspiration’s expansive showroom for a cozy feel.

Participants who stop by can enjoy four workshops, all taking place at varying times to accommodate those who are interested in more than one session. Speakers will share expertise on topics ranging from bedding to energy conservation.

“It’s not just a bunch of speakers showing up,” s ays Co l ga n . “We really feel that they have a message or a talent that we’d like to share with more people.”

From 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Carol Davis will inform listeners about the basics of luxury bedding and ways to create a personalized bedroom space. To illustrate her talk, Davis will transform a platform bed in the showroom.

Davis is a seamstress and designer who specializes in custom bedding, and her work has been featured in luxury magazines. The course takes place on the second floor in the bedroom showroom.

Helen N. Wai from Hawaii Energy will share practical tips to increase a household’s energy efficiency and conservation.

“It sounds like, ‘Oh, snore,’ but she is such a wonderful speaker,” says Colgan. “I learned so much about all these different things I didn’t know about.”

Wai’s session is from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. in the lighting gallery located on the first floor.

With the holidays right around the corner, Jancy Kuwasaki, Allied ASID from Design Dimensions, will demonstrate two holiday settings, one for Thanksgiving and the other for Christmas from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. in the third floor’s loft showroom.

Home entertainment is constantly changing. Tom Choy, owner of Audio Lab, will ensure those in attendance are up to speed with what is currently available from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. in the second-floor showroom. Topics such as the latest innovations in home entertainment, the different advantages homeowners will have with respect to current TV packages as well as Dish TV packages 2021 and beyond, and other interesting entertainment options might be discussed in this session.

Also throughout the day until 4:30 p.m., ask a salesperson for a demonstration of the “Lift” recliner, part of the showroom’s “motion” furniture items.

These will be the last design and lifestyle workshops for the remainder of the year, until the series picks up again in January.
