The Kahala Hotel & Resort is cooking up great eats in its bake shop.

However, its newest menu item caters not to humans but to dogs — although, with ingredients one can find in the kitchen, it’s safe for humans to eat, too. In honor of National Dog Week, celebrated the last week of September, the hotel is serving up these savory, luxury treats as a “thank-you” for all the joy dogs bring to the lives of humans.

“We’re also a dog-friendly hotel,” says executive chef Wayne Hirabayashi. “And we have been for many years.”

Plus, slated to debut soon is a slew of new recipes created by Hirabayashi.

“We’re trying to create dog treats and meals that are more health-conscious and making sure they’re flavorful,” he adds.

Cost is $20 for six specialty Kahala dog biscuits packaged in a signature box. For an additional $5, you can include your pup’s name in hand-written icing. The Kahala requires pre-paid orders to be made 72 hours in advance and a maximum of six letters for the name.
