Just as Keurig coffee pods have a home near the office coffee maker, The Cookie Lady seems to have an almost-permanent space nearby, too.

It feels as though a month doesn’t go by when someone isn’t dropping by with a jar, or a few. Make no mistake, though, this is not a complaint. Cookies from The Cookie Lady are like gems — a treat I make sure to indulge in whenever possible.

There are homemade cookies, amateur ones like those I make, and then there is The Cookie Lady. Cookies from Dale Muramoto, The Cookie Lady herself, still have that homemade feel but with a more expert touch.

My favorite (and the one I always sneak back for more of) is the Furikake Mix Cookies. With chunks of furikake Chex Mix in each bite, it’s a perfectly crisp balance of salty and sweet.

Lemon Cookies

You really can’t go wrong, though. The Lemon Cookies, Cornflake Cookies and Almond Cookies are all by far the best I’ve ever had (sorry, aunties). I think it has a lot to do with the texture. Because while my cookies inconsistently come out either chewy or soft, The Cookie Lady cookies manage to always be light and crisp — making it far too easy to eat more than a few, if you ask me.

One variation I’ve had my sights on for quite some time now: Fruity Cookies, which are packed with Fruity Pebbles. Because if there is anything I appreciate more than childhood cereal, it’s turning that cereal into a cookie. I’ve also seen different flavors of the month pop up from time to time, like one that included Trix (another childhood favorite). So be sure to follow The Cookie Lady on Instagram for the latest specials and updates.

Well, I’ve gone and done it. I’m craving cookies from The Cookie Lady. Now I just have to hope that another batch pops up near the coffee maker sometime very soon.

FOOD TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Exciting news: Vintage Cave will be opening a café in Shirokiya Japan Village this October. Since Vintage Cave opened in 2012, I have only dreamed of dining in the extravagant restaurant.

Hopefully, this will be my consolation prize. Details on the new restaurant are a little sparse, but it’s looking like an Italian-inspired menu with items like wagyu steak, Milan-style pasta, Napoli-style pizza and more.

Prices will be more attainable than Vintage Cave, with lunch dishes ranging from $20 to $30, and dinner costing anywhere from $50 to $100 per person.

The best news? Vintage Cave Café sounds just as elaborate, with a design that will look like an Italian cathedral, complete with a fresco-painted dome, and murals and sculptures from Italy.

But what I am really excited about is afternoon tea. Ugh, I can hardly wait.
