Chez Kenzo manages to be a fun, lively bar, while also offering a great dinner menu that exceeds the typical bar fare. That’s why this is one of our favorite places, and we love its inventive pasta creations that balance Italian and Asian flavors. The Mentaiko Pasta features perfectly al dente noodles with spicy cod fish roe. Other pasta selections also feature things like salmon roe, sea urchin and nori. In our experience, none of them would be a mistake.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE
SWEET CREAMS

We are suckers for ice cream — especially novelty ice cream. Sweet Creams’ distinctive Thai-inspired ice cream rolls were exactly the novelty we needed. We opted for Strawberry Shortcake, which was made like so — their signature cream is mixed with a fresh, chopped strawberry, frozen and then rolled into surprisingly resilient tubes. (They look like they melt fast, but they don’t.) That’s all topped with whipped cream, Fruity Pebbles and a graham cracker. The result tastes like the freshest strawberry ice cream you ever had. You can find this brand-new shop right next to Manichi Ramen near Ala Moana Center.
