We here at Metro frequent La Cucina, and this dish has been one of our favorites to date (although, we suppose it’s pretty hard to order wrong here). And no wonder it’s so good: Each ravioli is filled with ricotta, mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Then they’re topped with a slice of prosciutto and swimming in a roasted garlic butter and sage sauce. Oh, and plus La Cucina’s ravioli is thick and hearty — not like those too-thin ravioli skins you get elsewhere.

TERIYAKI GRILLED ORA KING SALMON KAMAMESHI
EATING HOUSE 1849
International Marketplace 2330, Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki

The only thing wrong with this dish is that there wasn’t more of it. Not that it wasn’t plentiful — we’re just gluttons when the food’s good. A tender piece of king salmon is perfectly complemented with a light, not overpowering teriyaki sauce, served with vegetables. And while the salmon is great on its own, it shares the spotlight equally with the Arborio rice that it sits atop. Mixed with shiitake mushrooms and edamame, the Arborio is exactly the kind of textured, subtle complement you wish you could eat at every meal.
