The Eighth Annual Survey Exhibition of Contemporary Photography in Hawaii is now on display at The ARTS At Marks Garage.

The exhibition, juried by curator of contemporary art at Honolulu Museum of Art James “Jay” Jensen, features images by amateur and professional photographers throughout the state. (Competition was steep — just 52 photographs were selected from 450 submissions, so you know you’re seeing the best.) It showcases photography of all processes — including analog, digital and other alternative methods — as well as mixed media.

The goal of the exhibit — which is sponsored by University of Hawaii at Manoa Outreach College’s Pacific New Media — is to provide a look into the state’s photography scene, as well as to be a platform for photographers to exhibit their works.

The ARTS at Marks hosts an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. April 1, with an awards ceremony at 6:30. The exhibit will run through April 9.
